The Content Autocoding Specialist reports to the Manager, Autocoding, based in Singapore. The individual will be part of Strategic Services’ Metadata Management team.
The Content Autocoding Specialist is responsible for the accurate application of Dow Jones Intelligent Identifiers (DJID) to publications through the expert management of Dow Jones Factiva’s auto-categorization systems. These systems use a hybrid approach that leverages AI, ML and NLP to perform deep linguistic analysis and make sense of huge amounts of unstructured data. The Autocoding specialist supervises and writes rules on top of this automatic analysis in order to achieve the high levels of Precision and Recall that are necessary in our Categorization process. Additionally, the same AI-powered text analytics tools are also used by the Autocoding specialist to extract facts and events from unstructured content to support multiple use cases from internal and external customers.
The Strategic Services team provides key strategic functions across Data Strategy, including Metadata Management, Business Management, Content Strategy, Quality and Solutions. The Strategic Services group houses all non-research capabilities within Data Strategy. The Metadata Management team is responsible for the creation and development of Dow Jones Intelligent Identifiers -- our proprietary taxonomy of more than 3,000 industry, news subject and region tags -- and the application of DJID tags to articles in 28 languages to high quality standards of precision and recall.
Research, produce and maintain expert search statements for rules-based coding application, ensuring tags applied accurate reflect the concepts covered in the articles.
Develop and maintain document training sets for linguistics-based categorization tool.
Test software releases as categorization tools are improved.
Perform coding quality monitoring of publications, scoring documents for precision and recall and refining categorization rules to ensure the highest levels of precision and recall.
Undertake research and analysis to improve the overall enrichment of Factiva content.
Troubleshoot auto-coding problems.
Answer customer coding questions escalated by Customer Service and/or Sales.
Perform special ad-hoc projects as needed to support the needs of the business.
Update Calendar indicators in Titan if required.
Maintain Symbology company database for East & South-East Asia companies & organizations.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Proficient in English & Korean.
College degree or related work experience.
Experience with taxonomies and classification systems a plus.
Extremely detailed oriented.
Excellent research and analytical skills.
Understanding of Boolean search logic a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Advanced skills in logical reasoning.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with auto-categorization products helpful.
Keen interest in current affairs
