Dow Jones Global Real Estate, Facilities & Security (GREFS) builds, maintains, administers and protects a portfolio of versatile, efficient workspaces for Dow Jones businesses across the globe.
Dow Jones GREFS seeks a Project Designer position to assist with the programming, interior design, and implementation of cost-effective workplace solutions for building renovations, restocks or new construction. Solutions include space planning, furniture layouts, and move coordination. The Project Designer reports to the Manager of Project Planning and works directly with other members of GREFS, End-User Technology and the People Team. The position requires an ability to communicate and interact with senior management, business unit users, end-users, and external vendors to deliver each project on time and on budget.
Core Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Provide assistance with schematic design, design development, construction documentation, technical specifications, and other project related materials as needed.
Demonstrate advanced AutoCAD and CAFM knowledge and skill set.
Prepare 3D renderings for client meetings.
Work with Manager in developing a project plan, budget and schedule.
Attend project meetings with Architect, Engineer and Construction Team.
Initiate client meetings to review project expectations.
Propose effective design solutions to meet project goals.
Analyze design issues and suggest corrective actions.
Prepare design layouts and sketches according to company design standards.
Develop cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality.
Address design and construction related concerns in a timely manner.
Review and recommend improvements to existing designs.
Research industry trends and design technologies.
Provide assistance and conduct training to team members when required.
Work with the design team in prioritizing, planning and executing several projects efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills
BA or BFA in Interior Design.
1-3 year experience with commercial and corporate space planning.
Working knowledge of office furniture systems, furniture specifications, and interior finishes.
Knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements for planning activities and compliance.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, version 2016 preferred.
Google SketchUp or 3D rendering platform.
Strong technical skills using Google Business and Adobe applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, paired with a customer-service mentality.
Experience working with external vendors.
Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
