Job Description:

Dow Jones, a leader in the global media industry, seeks a Senior Director, Acquisition & Onboard to work as partner and consultant to our global business units from our People Planning Recruitment & Inclusion Center of Experts. You are a resonant, goal oriented leader who exhibits and supports our core values; curiosity, trust & humility.

Reporting to the SVP, Inclusion and People Management, as Senior Director, Acquisition & Onboard, you will develop recruiting strategies across our businesses (News; Tech; PIB; Sales; Print; Ops, etc.), and help transform and scale our talent acquisition operation, implement plans and unique hiring strategies by driving a dynamic service culture that is cohesive, quickly activates and is effective. You will have in-depth knowledge and experience in creating diverse and inclusive cultures at all levels of an organization. A key component of this role will be the development of a robust sourcing strategy to ensure we are identifying the widest, most diverse pool of talent possible, to develop a robust pipeline of talent for current and future roles.

In addition, you will help develop and implement on-boarding programming that effectively assimilates new hires to the organization and supports our engagement strategy, and utilize internal and external training resources to achieve new hire training goals, aligned to our future way of working. This will include partnering across the People Team and other stakeholders to develop an Employee Value Proposition to drive our attraction strategy. You will manage an upbeat and positive experience for our candidates, People managers, and interviewers.

A true proponent of data-driven strategies, you are willing to challenge convention, build relationships and think critically. You will supervise and manage a global team of 8 to 10 recruiters and coordinators.


  • Leverage existing data and technology to help drive the transformation of important recruiting metrics, using insights to inform strategy, decision-making, and process changes.

  • Leverage technology to allow for a more seamless virtual hiring and onboarding experience

  • Work to continuously improve our talent acquisition processes and ensure our approach is inclusive, efficient, streamlined, and focused on the candidate experience.

  • Oversee preparation of detailed job descriptions and classification systems with defined job levels and families in coordination with our Center of Experts.

  • Analyze recruitment trends, turnover, and other key metrics and recommends solutions to the business.

  • Partner with the People team to review our Talent Acquisition & Onboard experience. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, tech and training needs. Help develop and shape our programs.

  • Work with your partners in the Center of Experts to tap into diverse talent channels and cultivate memorable candidate connections. Ensure that Dow Jones commitment to Inclusion is woven into the fabric of all recruitment activities.

  • Cultivate relationships across a range of disciplines and geographies, and leverage external strategic partnerships.

  • Evaluate and manage vendors.

  • Leverage HR insights, analytics, data and dashboards to influence talent conversations and manage expectations from executive leadership.

  • Coach and develop talent acquisition team members to achieve our recruiting priorities and drive strong performance. Ensure the team is managing to milestones and metrics and flexible to quickly respond to shifting needs.

  • Collaborate with our SVP, Inclusion and People Management as you tailor recruiting strategies based on productivity and success metrics to identify and attract a diverse array of candidates.

  • Support the Talent Acquisition team’s fair hiring process as we grow ever more diverse candidate pools for all our roles

  • Champion the culture and ensure cultural consistency.

  • Manage and select vendors and as well as evaluate their impact.

  • Support the team in building trust and credibility with leaders and hiring managers.


  • 8-10 years of experience in talent acquisition; at least 3 of which is global.

  • 3-5 years of experience inspiring and managing a team of recruiters who also have the ability to source and develop talent pipelines. Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices.

  • Experience with International, federal, state, and local employment regulations.

  • International mobility experience.

  • Ability and experience using a broad collection of recruiting tools.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, preferably Human Resources or Organizational Development.

  • Human Resource/talent acquisition and/or industry certifications.
