Summer 2020 Software Engineering Internship - Consumer Content
The Dow Jones Consumer Content team is responsible for designing, building and maintaining services and systems that are shared across all of Dow Jones. These applications are essential to the day to day operations of developers as well as editors and other employees. Existing services consist of front and backend applications that solve a wide range of problems. We’re looking for a self starter who is willing to explore and learn about existing shared services, while also working to create new greenfield applications using the latest cloud technologies.
In this position you will be building a personalization tool or API for our consumer content services. This service will allow consumers to specify response format and response contents. You’ll be utilizing cutting edge cloud technologies and working with an application that receives millions of requests per day.
Building a performant & scalable service that allows for customizable responses from our content API
Working with team members & remotely with content developers to understand the consumer content domain & customization service requirements
Working towards a degree in Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, with at least two years of school successfully completed.
Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies to web application development
Object-oriented programming ability (such as C#, C++, or Java)
Experience with Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
Understanding of service-oriented architecture
Ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
A self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team

Docker, Kubernetes or other cloud or container technologies
Angular, React or other single page framework
Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
