The Professional Information Business at Dow Jones plays a critical role in the delivery of key B2B products in order to be the power behind global businesses. Dow Jones Risk & Compliance is a market-leading provider of data solutions to help mitigate risks around Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Corruption and Sanctions Compliance. The business originated in 2000 focused on these thematic areas and has grown exponentially over the last 10 years with increased investment from Dow Jones and News Corp. It is currently one of the fastest growing areas of business for Dow Jones and News Corp, and we have ambitious plans for continued growth.
The Risk & Compliance General Manager requires strategic vision, excellent communication skills, and talent for managing senior level relationships.
While it is critical that this position demands careful attention to our present customers needs, a significant portion of this role involves decision-making based on trends and expectations to drive future growth. They must foster a culture of collaboration, working effectively across the Professional Information Business, and other groups within Dow Jones, to deliver results and make decisions that enhance the profitability of our products and services within the Risk & Compliance vertical.
The GM must think strategically, assessing options and taking action based on their knowledge of current and potential customers and partners, the competitive landscape and the vision and goals of the organization, developing a sustainable and growing commercial strategy for all revenue streams.
Commercial oversight of the Risk & Compliance vertical, ensuring clear focus on the profitability of products and services provided to customers
Identifying and developing strategic & opportunistic revenue that will have a positive impact on EBITDA
Developing business cases that will drive growth and define/prioritize use cases, business requirements and product monetization
Work in partnership with other interested parties to identify the capital expenditure requirements for product development and work as part of the PIB Leadership Group to gain approval and formally request funds
Building a strong and unified team who understand all opportunities within their market sector.
An excellent understanding of the competitor landscape and provide clear direction to the business on where this presents risks or opportunities
Act as a Dow Jones Thought Leader at high-profile events
Ownership of partner strategy for market specialisms to ensure that we maximize revenue opportunities by using 3rd parties, where they are stronger at delivering into market segments/geographies
Reviewing and evaluating M&A opportunities, as appropriate
Work in partnership with the Technology department to ensure that the product roadmap is developed in line with our customers’ requirements and revenue targets
Leading the discussions with Marketing to define the go-to-market strategy for all new or enhancements to our products and services
Numerous years of experience within the Risk and Compliance industry
Deep domain expertise of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions Compliance, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Counter Terrorist Finance (CTF), Know Your Customer (KYC), Enhanced Due Diligence and relevant regulatory landscape
A strong strategist with proven business acumen
P&L management essential
A background in commercial management who consistently demonstrates sound judgment
Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills up to and including board level
Significant track record of delivery and driving commercial goals.
Public speaking at conferences, media interviews, and presentations preferred
College degree required, MBA strongly preferred
