The technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of all electrical, electronic and computerized equipment in the printing plant as well as operation of various production equipment as needed. Extensive electrical, electronic and computer knowledge and experience are important prerequisites for this job.
Project management and routine preventative and corrective maintenance tasks are required. Oversight of work performed by contractors on electrical, electronic and computerized equipment as well as other duties may be assigned from time to time.
Documentation and the use of asset maintenance tools are an important part of this position and the technician will assist in maintaining and updating an accurate asset maintenance system. Technicians are expected to use asset maintenance tools to develop, maintain and manage maintenance tasks as well as manage parts ordering and inventory. The documentation function also applies to preventative maintenance (PMs), operating procedures and technical drawings; the technician shall maintain a log of equipment PM’s.
The technician is responsible for assisting with operator education for all supported equipment and assisting the press/mail crew with electrical and electronic press maintenance, when needed. When operational or equipment related problems interfere with efficient and timely processing of the press order, the technician may be required to perform additional operational duties in the imaging/plateroom, reelroom, pressroom or mailroom, as directed by the press foreman.
