Responsible for legal matters arising in the APAC region, including but not limited to advising Sales in relation to negotiation and structure of sales transactions, and advising relevant personnel in relation to negotiation and structure of relationships with information providers, vendors, consultants, and distributors;
Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, including content and trademark licenses, sales and advertising contracts, master service agreements and other types of contracts as needed
Participate in Professional Information Business sales legal team activities, such as revising and updating contract templates, sharing knowledge of legal and commercial policy changes both to legal and business colleagues, and providing ad hoc legal support to the global sourcing department;
Maintain updated knowledge of legal and regulatory developments in the APAC region that are relevant to Dow Jones;
Conducting training sessions for sales teams in APAC
Participate in regular but ad hoc projects which may be region specific or global in nature;
Manage external counsel when necessary on specific transactions.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A 4-7 PQE qualified lawyer with a license to practice in Hong Kong or other common law jurisdictions.
Experience with and good knowledge of commercial and intellectual property law together with a broad understanding of general legal issues.
Experience with data protection, privacy law and transactions involving digital products or services is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail.Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to interact directly and form productive working relationships with sales representatives and other internal clients.
Demonstrated ability to discuss issues with or present to high-level executives and decision makers.
Strong work ethic, flexible to changing business needs and a desire to expand knowledge and competencies to grow with the company’s diverse initiatives.
Exercise good judgment regarding confidential/material, non-public information.
Able to multi-task and handle high volumes of work, and exercise good judgment in setting priorities.
High level of initiative and self-motivation, with an ability to work in a team environment or independently.
Ability to work with clients from varying disciplines and geographic backgrounds.
