Dow Jones Manager, Autocoding in BARCELONA, Spain

Job Description:

The role of the Autocoding Manager is to lead a regional team of specialists applying Dow Jones Intelligent Identifiers (DJID) to publications through the management of Dow Jones Factiva’s auto-categorization systems. These systems use a hybrid approach that leverages AI, ML and NLP to perform deep linguistic analysis and make sense of huge amounts of unstructured data.

As the Manager, you will establish key performance metrics and manage and track the team’s progress against performance targets, prioritizing work and balancing resources.

You will report to the Director, Metadata and will be part of the Factiva Content’s’ Metadata team.

You Will:

  • Directly supervise the work of Autocoding specialists who research, produce and maintain search statements for rules-based coding application.

  • Develop and maintain document training sets for linguistics-based article categorization.

  • Test software releases as categorization tools are improved.

  • Perform coding quality monitoring of publications, scoring documents for precision and recall.

  • Troubleshoot autocoding problems.

  • Answer customer coding questions escalated by Customer Service and/or Sales.

  • Develop plans for special projects as required.

  • Develop team members and maximize career opportunities for key personnel.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in information management products or services.

  • Understanding of Factiva product and services.

  • Understanding of Dow Jones Intelligent Identifiers

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a global audience in writing and verbally.

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate issues and conflicts and make timely decisions that benefit both the customer and the business.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to high quality standards.

  • Positive outlook on change and a flexible approach to the work environment and structure.

  • An openness to different views and opinions and an appreciation for team diversity.

Preferred:

  • Prior people management experience.

  • Experience with autocategorization software.
